I love Elizabeth Berg's work - and she is a lovely person as well, which is not hard to tell from her insightful writing.
The Last Time I Saw You is as funny and well-written as all of Berg's other novels, the sort of laugh-out-loud funny that causes you to look up and see if anyone is around so you can share the line. It's also painfully honest, in that way that gives relief: "Ah, I'm not alone, someone else has these crazy thoughts, too."
